There are different forms of Shareboarding, but what it boils down to is that a horse owner will let a shareboarder pay part of the board/shoeing/vet bills in exchange for letting the shareboarder use the horse part of the time.
A number of folks start their way in to what it is like to "own" a horse by shareboarding for a while first.
Each horse owner has a little different way of doing it, some require written contracts that spell out exactly what is expected from the shareboarder and how much they have to pay, etc.
Some folks just split everything and take turns riding the horse at different times.
