American Standardbred Adoption Program, Inc. was founded in 1994 by a small group of dedicated individuals and professionals who saw a need for a placement service for non-racing Standardbreds. This placement service honors and serves the people and horses within the harness racing industry around the country, with special emphasis on Standardbreds in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. The American Standardbred Adoption Program also serves as a rescue facility and sanctuary for abandoned, abused, or neglected horses of all breeds, and is listed by the Humane Society of the United States as a humane equine rescue organization. Horses of all other breeds are accepted into placement by ASAP, Inc. |

HAHS' mission is to promote the humane treatment of hooved animals through education, legislation, investigation and, if necessary, legal intervention (impoundment). Rescue and Rehabilitation Center The Center is dedicated to providing a safe refuge and care for neglected or special need horses.We will provide the necessary care and recuperation for horses accepted by our Center and place them in safe, caring homes at the completion of their training. Lazy Maple Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation Center will accept donated horses on a space availability basis. We will attempt to place finished horses in therapeutic riding programs. Some horses will be placed in inspected, approved homes for an adoption fee if the horse is deemed not suitable for therapeutic riding use. |
